November 9 - Global Learning in Foreign Language Instruction - More Than Just TalkForeign language proficiency and cross-cultural understanding should, ideally, go hand in hand. However, foreign language programs do not always successfully incorporate global learning practices into the curriculum and miss the opportunity to help students develop global perspectives. Language skill without cultural grounding does not meet the needs of the global marketplace nor does it reflect the intercultural awareness that higher education institutions strive to inspire in their students. This session will provide examples of foreign language programming in different contexts.
Join NAFSA Academic Programs for the third session in our six-part Architecture for Global Learning - Series II. Participants will learn how to augment their students' language learning with intercultural skills. Presenters will highlight the oft-overlooked reasons for purposefully incorporating global learning into foreign language programs.
